Everose is a proprietary rose gold alloy developed by Rolex in its own foundry in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva, and introduced in 2005. It is not conventional rose gold: the technical distinction lies in the addition of a small percentage of platinum to the 18-karat gold base (75% gold), an element that stabilizes the alloy and slows down surface oxidation.
Traditional rose gold owes its color to the high percentage of copper in the alloy. However, copper tends to oxidize over time, developing a patina that progressively shifts the color toward dark gold or burnished tones. Rolex solved this problem by replacing or supplementing copper with platinum, which is chemically inert. The result is a more stable rose tone that does not yellow or noticeably darken over decades.
From the workbench, the Everose color is cooler and more discreet compared to conventional rose gold: less orange, closer to pale rosé. Those familiar with both alloys can recognize them at a glance. Compared to Omega's Sedna Gold, a competing alloy born with similar objectives, Everose appears less saturated: Sedna tends toward a more intense red, while Everose remains a warm but restrained pink.
In the Rolex catalog, Everose appears in two configurations: entirely in rose gold (case, bracelet and details all Everose) or in the hybrid version called Everose Rolesor, where rose gold is combined with Oystersteel, the house's 904L stainless steel. The term Rolesor has existed since 1933 to indicate the steel-gold combination; Everose Rolesor is its modern interpretation in pink color.
The internal foundry is a relevant point: Rolex casts its own alloys in-house, which allows total control over composition and color repeatability from batch to batch. Not all watchmakers have this capability; many purchase ready-made alloys from external suppliers. The exact composition of Everose remains patented and is not published in detailed percentages.
