Matte black doesn't seek attention. It commands it.
Unlike glossy black – which reflects and declares – matte black absorbs light and exudes character. On the alligator strap, this matte finish reveals the texture of the scales with a clarity that gloss doesn't allow: each scale is visible, distinct, present.
The alligator leather is selected for uniformity of the belly, processed in Italy with traditional tanning, and hand-finished. The profile progressively tapers from the lug attachment to the tail – a geometry that is not only aesthetic but also serves to keep the strap flat under the watch and snug on the wrist. No annoying stiffness. Just the right firmness.
A strap that works just as well on a Patek Philippe in a conference room as it does on a Datejust on a Sunday morning. Matte black, in this sense, is democratic: it doesn't belong to a single occasion.

Is the colour uniform across the whole strap?
No, and that is perfectly normal. This is genuine alligator leather: slight colour variations from one piece to another are natural and are part of the hide.
Why is the strap thinner towards the buckle?
I start at 3.5 millimetres at the lug and taper down to 2.5 at the tail. This shape keeps the strap flat under the case and close to the wrist, without stiffness.
Which watches does it pair well with?
The matte black works both on a Patek Philippe for the office and on a Datejust on a Sunday. It is not limited to a single occasion.
Is the strap entirely machine made?
The leather is worked in Italy with traditional tanning and finished by hand.
