24mm Straps — Every leather for every watch

A 24mm lug width isn't just a wider measurement—it's a shift in proportions that changes how a strap needs to behave. Cases that take this lug size almost always exceed 42mm in diameter, often with thick bezels and substantial movements under the crystal. A thin strap on a wrist and case like this simply disappears. You need leather that holds its shape, that gives visual weight without making the buckle closure feel heavy.

Tapering matters as much as lug width. A 24mm that tapers to 20mm at the buckle follows wrist anatomy better than a gentler taper: the strap cinches where it should, without excess material bunching near the closure. This is a decision made at the cutting stage, not after.

Leathers respond differently to this format. Cordovan, stiffer in its early months, takes a pronounced bend and holds it: those who choose it in 24mm accept a longer break-in for superior shape retention over time. Full-grain leather softens faster and conforms to the wrist more naturally from the first weeks. Lizard, with its scales, opens slightly at the flexion points: it's normal, part of the leather, not a flaw. Nubuck absorbs more than smooth leather and needs more care if you wear it often in sun or water.
