Spring bars Rolex Explorer II 16570 — drilled lugs
€12,95
Set of two spring bars for Rolex Explorer II reference 16570 with drilled lugs, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between lugs. Pin diameter: 2.0mm. For the 16570 production with through-hole, from 1989 to 2003 — before the transition to the closed case of the later years.
The 16570 is the Explorer II that divides collectors. Modern case, but drilled lugs on the first fifteen years of production. 2.0mm pin is mandatory: against an open hole, a smaller diameter won’t hold. Removal also becomes simpler — a pin punch from below and the strap comes out, no forked tool needed on the slot.
I fit these on the drilled 16570 that come through the atelier. For post-2003 versions without the hole, the modern 1.5mm pin is required.

Domande Frequenti
I have a 1995 16570 and the strap doesn’t hold well with the spring bars I have. Could it be the pin diameter?
Very likely. Your 16570 has the through-hole, and the pin must be 2.0mm — the one you find here. If you’re using 1.5mm pins (the ones from post-2003 versions), they naturally won’t hold in an open hole. With the 2.0 it seats properly.
I need to change the lugs on my 16570 but I don’t want to take it to a watchmaker. Is it difficult with these spring bars?
No, actually it’s why the 2.0mm pin works better. With the through-hole, take a simple punch, push from below and the strap comes out clean — you don’t have to fight with a lever on a slot like on other models. I do it in the workshop in two minutes.
My 16570 is from 2005, can I use these spring bars?
No. From 2003 onwards Rolex closed the case with solid lugs — there’s no more through-hole. These are specific to the 1989-2003 versions. If you have a post-2003 you need the modern 1.5mm pin.
There are two spring bars — do I need just one to change the strap or do I always have to install them in pairs?
They’re a pair because one bar per lug. You need both — one on the wrist end, one on the fixed case lug. It’s a complete set for the change.
I’ve seen written ‘Swiss Standard’ — does it mean they are certified or is it just the steel?
It’s the hardened steel standard we use, made according to the norm. It’s not an added certification — it’s simply the right material so you don’t have spring bars that bend or fail. Swiss Standard steel is what holds.
