Set of two Omega spring bars, 20mm lug width, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Pin diameter: 1.8mm. Correct size for Speedmaster Professional, Seamaster 300M (drilled and closed lugs), Aqua Terra 38, recent Railmaster.

On the Speedmaster Pro, the 20mm with 1.8mm pin has been the factory specification for decades. The Moon case is tight on the lugs: with an undersized pin, the strap shifts by a millimetre with every movement. It doesn’t break, but you feel it. And a strap you feel is a strap made badly.

I fit them on the Speedmaster leather straps every time I stitch one. It is the standard size for the most widespread wrist in the world.

Domande Frequenti

Am I sure that 1.8mm is the correct diameter for my Speedmaster Pro?

Yes, it’s the Omega factory specification for decades. If you use a thinner pin, the strap moves about a millimeter with each wrist movement — it won’t break, but you’ll feel it. With 1.8mm everything fits perfectly in the tight lugs of the Moon case.

Do they also work on Seamaster 300M with solid lugs?

Yes, they work on both drilled and solid lugs of the 300M. Just verify that the lugs have a 20mm width between the loading points — on some vintage models it might be slightly different.

How do I avoid damaging them during installation?

Use a two-pronged tool (classic spring bar tool). Press both lateral spheres simultaneously with a decisive, fluid motion, don’t jerk. Swiss Standard tempered steel is robust, but not indestructible if you use the wrong tool.

How long do they last before losing elasticity?

With normal use, at least 5-10 years. Tempered steel maintains spring memory. If you install and remove them frequently with broken tools, durability decreases. If you leave them mounted and don’t abuse them, they last a lifetime.
