Spring bars Rolex GMT-Master II 16710 — drilled lugs
€12,95
Set of two spring bars for Rolex GMT-Master II reference 16710, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin diameter: 2.0mm. Designed for the 16710 with drilled lugs, produced between 1988 and 2003 — before the transition to the closed case.
The 16710 is one of the few modern GMTs with the through-hole. It changes the way you remove the strap — all you need is a pin punch, no levers. But it also changes how the pin works: against an open hole, the 2.0mm is required. On my personal 16710, purchased in 2001, I have always fitted these spring bars.
A suitable size for the entire 16710 production prior to 2003. For the later models without the hole, the modern 1.5mm pin is required.

Domande Frequenti
I have a 1995 16710 with drilled lugs — are these spring bars compatible or am I about to make a mess?
Yes, they fit perfectly. They were designed specifically for the 16710 with through-holes produced between 1988 and 2003. The 2.0mm pin is the correct one for the open hole. If yours is from that period and you can see the hole passing all the way through the case, you’re all set.
What exactly is the difference between these and the ones for the newer 16710s I see around?
The 16710s after 2003 have a blind case — no hole. For those, you need the modern 1.5mm pin. These here are 2.0mm because the open hole requires a larger diameter. They are not interchangeable — if you put the 1.5mm in a drilled case, the pin won’t hold.
I only need one bar because I lost the original — can I buy them individually or is the set of two mandatory?
They come in sets of two. That’s how we make them. If you’ve lost one, the set covers the replacement of both — and at that point you also have a spare.
How do I remove the strap with the drilled lugs? Do I need a special tool or can I improvise?
A simple pin punch is enough. That’s the advantage of the through-hole — you don’t need a fork tool, nothing complicated. Push the punch from one side and the pin comes straight out. Drilled lugs completely change how you work on the case.
The steel is Swiss Standard — what does that mean in practice? Does it hold up over time, or is it one of those details that makes no difference?
Swiss Standard means it is tempered steel according to the Swiss standard — it’s not marketing. On my personal 2001 16710 I’ve had these bars forever and they have never given me any problems. It’s a material that lasts, full stop.
