I prefer solid Tuscan leather with vegetable tanning—robust and able to age elegantly alongside black ceramic and brushed steel. Barenia works well: it develops patina over time without losing character. It's leather that breathes with a technical watch.

A good handcrafted strap will last 5–7 years of daily wear, often longer. It depends on care and climate: simple cleaning now and then, keep it away from humidity. The leather ages, it patinas, but if it works for years it's because it was made properly. Not disposable.

It's a deliberate technical choice. TAG Heuer engineered the case as a monoblock for structural rigidity and superior water resistance. It means quick-change or frequent swaps aren't an option—but structurally you gain solidity. That's the trade-off of a serious chronograph.
