The lug width is 20mm, a non-standardized measurement that requires bespoke strap construction. This dimension was retained by the manufacture to preserve historical authenticity and proportional balance, but it excludes generic off-the-shelf straps commonly available in the market.

Selection depends on intended use and aesthetic preference: alligator in brown or black emphasizes the tool-watch character of the satin-finished case; vegetable-tanned calf develops a natural patina over time; NATO nylon echoes the functional heritage; rubber straps provide maximum practicality and water resistance. All must respect the 20mm lug width and specific passant design.

The strap is changed using spring bars—small spring-loaded rods housed within the lugs. Use a spring bar tool (a small forked key) to gently extract the bar from one side, slide the old strap away, and insert the new strap before reinserting the bar. Avoid excessive pressure that could damage the stainless steel lugs.

Only if specifically constructed with a 20mm passant. Standard pre-made straps have passants of 18mm, 19mm, or 22mm and will not seat correctly on the lug. It is advisable to commission a bespoke strap from an artisan who manufactures to order, ensuring precise fitment and comfortable wear.

A quality strap crafted from vegetable-tanned leather will last 3–7 years with moderate daily use, developing a beautiful natural patina. Longevity depends on exposure to moisture, sunlight, perspiration, and frequency of wear. Rubber straps last longer (7–12 years), whilst cotton NATO straps require more frequent replacement (2–4 years).
