Spring bars Rolex Submariner 1680 yellow gold — 20mm

Set of two spring bars for Rolex Submariner reference 1680 in yellow gold, made of hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin diameter: 2.0mm. Compatible with the entire 1680 gold production, from 1969 to 1980 — the first Submariner with the date, in both the red dial and white dial variants.
On the 1680, the lugs are drilled. The pin works against an open hole and requires the 2.0mm — the modern 1.5mm diameter has play here. Even though the case is gold, the spring bars remain steel: it is the original Rolex specification, and it makes sense. Hardened steel does not deform under load, gold does.

Frequently asked questions
What diameter are these spring bars?
2.0mm pin. On the 1680, the lugs are drilled and work against an open hole: a modern 1.5mm would wobble in there. It needs the 2.0mm.
Will they fit my gold Submariner 1680 with a white dial?
Yes. They cover the entire 1680 gold production, from 1969 to 1980, both red and white dial.
Why are they steel and not gold, if the case is gold?
That's the original Rolex specification. Hardened Swiss Standard steel doesn't deform under load, while gold does. It makes sense to keep them this way.
Are they also suitable for a lug that isn't drilled?
No. Here the pin works against an open hole, just like on the 1680. On a closed lug, it's a different matter.
Are these the same ones fitted on this model when work is done at the Casati atelier?
Yes. Same part, same supplier: when a gold 1680 is on my bench, these are exactly the ones I fit.
