Spring bars Rolex Submariner 14060 — 20mm × 1.8mm
€12,95
Set of two spring bars for Rolex Submariner reference 14060, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm lug-to-lug. Pin diameter: 1.8mm. Compatible with the 14060 production from 1989 to 2001 — the last no-date Submariner with drilled lugs before the transition to the 14060M.
The 14060 sits in the middle. Drilled lugs still, like a vintage piece, but the case is already modern. On pin diameter the community is aligned on 1.8mm: it holds better than 1.5mm on drilled lugs, but does not force the way the full 2.0mm of the Seventies Subs does. It is the right compromise for the transition of those years.
When a client brings in a 14060 for a strap change, these are the spring bars I fit. The same piece my trusted watchmaker uses for servicing.

Domande Frequenti
I have a 14060 from 1995, do these spring bars really fit without forcing?
Yes. The 14060 between ’89 and 2001 has identical drilled lugs, so clean installation. The 1.8mm diameter is what holds best on those drilled lugs without creating play. It’s not like the 1.5mm pins that rattle, and it doesn’t force like the 2.0mm solid pins from Seventies Subs. It’s the right compromise for that transition.
Can I use them on a newer 14060M or other Rolex models?
No. These are specific to the 14060 produced from 1989 to 2001 — the one with drilled lugs but already modern case. The 14060M and other references have different geometry. If you’re unsure about your 14060, bring the watch, not the model.
Why 1.8mm and not 2.0mm directly?
The 2.0mm solid is from vintage Seventies Subs, and it’s too much for the 14060’s drilled lugs — it creates resistance on installation and strap changes. The 1.8mm is the compromise the community has confirmed: it holds well on drilled lugs without forcing. It’s what I install myself when I change straps for owners.
They are Swiss Standard steel. Does that mean they never rust?
They are tempered, so resistant. But steel remains steel — if you leave them wet or in very humid environments without drying, they can oxidise. Normal maintenance: dry well after water and store them dry. Nothing to worry about if you use the watch with minimal care.
Do I really need two? Isn’t one enough?
Two because there are two lugs on the strap: one on each side of the case. If you install only one, the strap won’t stay fixed. They always come as a pair.
