Natural leather (light, vegetable-tanned, ages beautifully on fair skin). Chocolate (dark brown verging on black, dress). Marsala (red-wine, intermediate between brown and bordeaux). Mahogany (redder than chocolate, classic British). Bordeaux (shifts towards red/violet, a statement piece).

For the concrete choice: the back of the client’s hand. Fair skin beneath a light strap is Scandinavian elegance. Dark skin beneath a light strap is strong contrast. Beneath a white-metal watch (steel, white gold) every shade works; beneath yellow gold the warm browns (cognac, tobacco) are more coherent.
