Brown Watch Straps Collection

Brown is not a colour — it is twelve. Tobacco, honey, cognac, hazelnut, natural leather, marsala, chocolate, bordeaux, mahogany, rust, amber, terracotta. Each one behaves differently under light, in photographs, and over time.

Brown: the Most Requested Shade Is Also the Most Technical

Brown is the most requested colour family for leather straps, but choosing “brown” without specifying the shade is like ordering “red” on a sports car — it means nothing precise. The shades behave differently depending on the leather: a cognac on alligator is almost orange, on barenia it is more subdued, on cordovan it becomes a dark mahogany verging on wine.

I principally work with seven standard shades, plus custom variations upon request. Cognac (warm, golden, brings out gold and brass). Tobacco (darker, earthy, ideal on a steel case). Natural leather (light, vegetable-tanned, ages beautifully on fair skin). Chocolate (dark brown verging on black, dress). Marsala (red-wine, intermediate between brown and bordeaux). Mahogany (redder than chocolate, classic British). Bordeaux (shifts towards red/violet, a statement piece).

For the concrete choice: the back of the client’s hand. Fair skin beneath a light strap is Scandinavian elegance. Dark skin beneath a light strap is strong contrast. Beneath a white-metal watch (steel, white gold) every shade works; beneath yellow gold the warm browns (cognac, tobacco) are more coherent.
