Spring bars Rolex vintage 20mm × 2mm — drilled lugs
€14,95
Set of two spring bars for vintage Rolex with drilled lugs, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin diameter: 2.0mm. Designed for cases with through-holes on the lug: Submariner 5512, 5513, 1680, 16800, GMT-Master 1675, 16750, Daytona 6263, 6265.
On drilled lugs the pin works differently. It pushes against a hole, not against a closed seat. This is why the 2.0mm diameter is needed — the modern 1.5mm wobbles here. I’ve seen it happen with generic spring bars mounted on a 5513 from 1978. Strap gone at the first tug.
I fit them in the atelier every time I work on a vintage piece with drilled lugs. Same part. Same supplier.

Domande Frequenti
I have a Sub 5513 from '78 and the strap broke the first time I wore it. Why?
They probably fitted a generic bar with 1.5mm pins. On a drilled lug that doesn’t work: the pin doesn’t push against a closed cavity, but through a through-hole. At 1.5mm it rattles around and won’t hold. You need 2.0mm, which works differently. I see this every time I service a vintage with drilled lugs — always the same problem, always the same solution.
Do these spring bars fit all vintage Rolex models?
No. They’re specific to models with drilled lugs: Submariner 5512, 5513, 1680, 16800, GMT-Master 1675, 16750, Daytona 6263, 6265. If your case doesn’t have the through-hole on the lug, this isn’t the right part.
What’s the difference between these and the bars I find online at rock-bottom prices?
The pin diameter. Generic ones are 1.5mm, these are 2.0mm. On a drilled lug it’s the difference between a bar that holds and one that doesn’t. Tempered Swiss Standard steel, same supplier I’ve used in the atelier for years — this is what I fit when I know it has to last.
How do I tell if my Rolex has drilled lugs?
Look at the lug on the inside of the case: if you see a hole running clean through, you have a drilled lug. If you see a notch or closed cavity instead, this isn’t the right set. If you’re unsure, check the model — the list is: 5512, 5513, 1680, 16800, GMT 1675, 16750, Daytona 6263, 6265.
Do they come ready to install or do I need to have them fitted?
They’re ready, but fitting them to a vintage is precision work — you need a specific tool and experience. If you’ve never done it, take the watch to an atelier. It’s not complicated, but if you get the installation wrong the strap will break again.
