Set of two spring bars for vintage Rolex with drilled lugs, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin diameter: 2.0mm. Designed for cases with through-holes on the lug: Submariner 5512, 5513, 1680, 16800, GMT-Master 1675, 16750, Daytona 6263, 6265.
On drilled lugs the pin works differently. It pushes against a hole, not against a closed seat. This is why the 2.0mm diameter is needed — the modern 1.5mm wobbles here. I’ve seen it happen with generic spring bars mounted on a 5513 from 1978. Strap gone at the first tug.

Are these suitable for my 1978 Submariner 5513?
Yes, provided the lugs are drilled. The 5513 has through-hole lugs, and these 20mm spring bars with a 2.0mm pin are made specifically for that type of case.
Why is the pin 2.0mm and not 1.5mm like the modern ones?
On drilled lugs, the pin presses against a hole, not against a closed recess. A 1.5mm pin would wobble inside it. I've seen this on a 1978 5513 fitted with generic spring bars: the strap came off at the first tug.
On which other Rolex models can they be fitted?
I fit them on Submariner 5512, 5513, 1680, 16800, GMT-Master 1675, 16750, Daytona 6263 and 6265. All vintage cases with through-hole lugs.
What material is it, and does it hold up over time?
Hardened Swiss Standard steel. It's the very same piece I use, always from the same supplier, when working on a vintage watch with drilled lugs.
Is this size also suitable for non-drilled lugs?
No. These spring bars are designed for through-hole lugs. On a closed-recess lug, the pin works differently and requires a different spring bar.
