Set of two spring bars for Rolex GMT-Master 1675 in yellow gold, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin 2.0mm. Drilled lugs. The 1675 is the longest-running GMT-Master in history: from 1959 to 1980, in steel, gold and two-tone versions.
The gold 1675 is the travel GMT of the Sixties and Seventies. 18kt case, bakelite or aluminium bezel, Jubilee bracelet or gold rope chain. For the spring bars the specification is the vintage one: 20mm drilled, pin 2.0mm. Even on a gold case the pin remains hardened steel — the drilled hole requires the full diameter, and 18kt gold would not hold under load.

Can I use these spring bars on a steel GMT-Master 1675 or only on the gold version?
They are specific to the gold 1675, but the 2.0mm hardened steel pin works on all versions of the reference — steel, gold, two-tone — because the drilled lug hole is identical. The difference is purely aesthetic: if you want visual continuity with the gold case, get these; otherwise a steel set costs less and performs just as well.
Why does the pin remain steel even though the spring bars are for an 18kt gold case?
18kt gold is soft and cannot withstand the pin pressure under load — it would deform in the lug hole. Swiss Standard hardened steel maintains the necessary hardness. The drilled lugs in gold are only the body of the spring bar; the working pin cannot be gold.
What is the difference between drilled and non-drilled lugs, and how does it affect installation?
The drilled lugs on the 1675 insert directly into the case hole (no small plastic ring needed). Installation is more straightforward and there is less risk of losing the pin during disassembly. If your 1675 has non-drilled lugs, these spring bars are not compatible.
How much resistance does the 2.0mm pin have? Do I risk breaking it if I pull hard while changing the strap?
The 2.0mm Swiss Standard hardened pin handles the normal load of a vintage gold strap well. The risk of breakage is low if you use the correct tool (horn tools, not screwdrivers). Pull gently: a 1675 is a delicate watch, and the pin is not the weak point — the drilled lug hole is, if you pull it the wrong way.
