Set of two spring bars for Rolex Explorer reference 1016, in tempered Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between lugs. Pin diameter: 2.0mm. For the entire 1016 production, from 1963 to 1989 — the Explorer with the longest production run in the Rolex catalogue, twenty-six years in a row.
The 1016 is the benchmark of the Explorer. Drilled lugs throughout the vintage production, 2.0mm pin to specification. When a 1016 arrives in the atelier with lugs worn out from incorrect spring bars, it is always the same story: undersized pin, progressive play, hole that becomes oval. Difficult to recover without turning.

Frequently asked questions
Is this set suitable only for the 1016, or also for other Explorer models?
It is suitable for the entire 1016 production run, from 1963 to 1989. Twenty-six years of production, always drilled lugs, always 20mm. I am not referring to other references here: this set is calibrated specifically for that one.
Why is the pin diameter so important?
The pin is 2.0mm, to the exact specification of the 1016. An undersized pin may seem to fit anyway, but it leaves play. Over time, that play works the hole and turns it oval. After that, it takes lathe work to fix it.
What material is it made of?
Hardened Swiss Standard steel. The very same component I fit at the bench on every 1016 that comes through here.
How many spring bars are included in the pack?
Two spring bars, the complete pair for one strap. Sized at 20mm between the lugs, matching the 1016.
How do I know if my lugs are already worn?
Check the hole: if it has become oval, or if the pin wobbles even when properly fitted, the damage has already occurred. This is almost always caused by the wrong spring bars having been fitted previously. With the correct 2.0mm pin, the problem will not happen again.
