Set of two spring bars for Rolex Daytona reference 16520, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between lugs. Pin 1.5mm. Drilled-through lugs. The 16520 is the Daytona Zenith El Primero produced from 1988 to 2000 — the first automatic Daytona with calibre 4030 based on the modified Zenith El Primero.
The 16520 marks the beginning of the modern Daytona era. Automatic calibre in place of the manual Valjoux, sapphire crystal, black or white bezel. Drilled-through lugs from the first series and 1.5mm pin — the 16520 is the first Daytona with the modern pin specification, anticipating the 116520 that would arrive in 2000. A cornerstone piece for those who collect transitional Daytonas.

Are these spring bars compatible with other Daytonas or only the 16520?
Compatible only with the 16520 and models featuring solid lugs with 20mm spacing and 1.5mm pins. If you own a 16700, 16710, or earlier models with 1.3mm pins, they are not compatible. If unsure about your model, check the pin diameter: the difference is measured in tenths of a millimeter, but it matters.
Is the 1.5mm pin really more resistant than the 1.3mm?
Yes. In tempered Swiss Standard steel, the increased cross-section provides greater rigidity and lower risk of deformation under load. Not a revolutionary innovation, but the difference is tangible — especially if you frequently remove and reattach the bracelet.
Can I install these spring bars myself or risk damaging the lugs?
Installation is easier on the solid lugs of the 16520 compared to other watches, but requires a decent spring bar tool and a steady hand — the risk is scratching the lugs if the tool slips. If you’ve never done this, have a watchmaker assist you the first time: it’s not complicated, but learning on your first attempt is risky.
Are these pins identical to original Rolex ones?
They are tempered Swiss Standard steel, which is the Rolex standard of that era — same hardness, same diameter, same machining. Not original Rolex parts, but they meet the 16520 specifications. For absolute authenticity, you need to rely exclusively on Rolex.
