Set of two Rolex spring bars 22mm × 1.8mm, in tempered Swiss Standard steel. The 22mm lug width covers the wider Rolex watches: Yacht-Master 42 (226658, 226659), Explorer II 226570 in certain versions, oversized cases from the 2000s. The 1.8mm pin is the correct specification on these larger lugs.
On 22mm lugs the geometry of the drilling is slightly different compared to the classic 20mm. The 1.8mm holds better under the greater load of a wide strap: more material, more resistance to deformation. The 1.5mm on 22mm shows — the pin works more than it should, and sooner or later it gives way.

How do I know if my Rolex needs 22mm or the classic 20mm?
Measure the distance between the two lugs (the lateral pins of the case): if it’s 22mm, you’re in the right scenario. Yacht-Master 42, Explorer II 226570, and oversized Rolex models from the 2000s are the main ones. If you’re under 42mm or have a classic Sub/GMT, you’re likely using standard 20mm.
Can I use 1.5mm pins instead of 1.8mm on 22mm lugs?
Technically it fits, but no — the 1.5mm flexes too much under the weight of a strap on lugs this wide. The 22mm cavity is deeper and requires 1.8mm for minimal play and stability. With 1.5mm, the pin works constantly and fails sooner.
What’s the risk if I install these spring bars incorrectly?
The pin doesn’t fully enter the cavities, the strap stays loose and falls off. Or the pin bends while you insert it. The trick is having the right tool (two-pronged lug removal tool) and using a decisive but controlled movement — never force. If the pin doesn’t slide in smoothly, check cavity alignment.
Are these spring bars universal or only for Rolex?
They’re Rolex-specific: cavity geometry varies slightly between brands. They work on any Rolex with 22mm lugs (on that specific case), but if you put a 22mm Rolex pin on an Omega 22mm lug, fit isn’t guaranteed. Better to stay within the brand.
