The Dietrich OT OT2UKW features a 20 mm lug width. This measurement should be verified by placing a ruler perpendicular to the watch case plane, between the two attachment holes. An undersized strap would result in instability, whilst an oversized strap would alter the visual proportions of the 46 mm case.

For the Dietrich OT, we recommend a natural alligator strap in dark shades (chocolate brown, black, anthracite grey) which emphasises the geometric rigour of the case. Alternatively, a calf leather with vegetable tanning in black or dark brown develops a patina over time, or a robust cotton NATO for those seeking daily versatility.

Strap changing requires the use of a spring bar tool or a fine needle. Position the watch with the strap facing upwards, insert the tool into the spring bar access hole, compress the internal spring and slide the new strap into the lug. Ensure the strap width is 20 mm and that the strap lugs fit perfectly against the case.

If the strap is declared as 20 mm and handcrafted with a 4 mm constructive thickness, compatibility is guaranteed. However, always verify that the spring bars are straight (not pre-curved) and that the strap lugs adapt perfectly to the case geometry. Our straps are calibrated to this exact measurement.

A natural leather strap, with vegetable tanning or alligator, lasts 3-5 years in daily use, provided adequate maintenance. Prolonged exposure to water, humidity and heat accelerate ageing. Regular care (cleaning, light conditioning with neutral balm) extends durability to 7-10 years. When the strap shows signs of structural failure, replacement is advisable to preserve the mechanical integrity of the case attachment.
