The Rubber Black Saffiano is born from the encounter of two materials that rarely interact. Saffiano leather, with its cross-hatch surface, brings visual character and resistance to surface wear. Natural rubber—caoutchouc, not silicone—does the invisible work: it absorbs shocks, breathes through integrated ventilation grooves, does not react to UV rays or contact with chemicals. And it is latex-free, a detail that matters more than you might think in long-term daily wear.
Black here is not a simple choice: it is the compact black of natural caoutchouc, which does not fade, and the black of saffiano that maintains its matte luster over time. The stainless steel quick-release allows for quick strap changes without tools—useful when you have multiple watches, essential when time matters.

I have sensitive skin and rubber straps usually don't agree with me — what is this one actually in contact with?
The underside against the wrist is natural caucciù, pure caoutchouc, without latex. It’s a substantial difference: latex is what triggers reactions in many people. There’s none here. The natural caoutchouc breathes through integrated grooves, so it doesn’t create that sticky situation that irritates the skin after hours. If you’ve had problems with silicone or latex, this should behave differently.
I wear my watch every day, at the wrist and at the gym — how long does it last before it starts breaking down?
The saffiano leather on the outer face is structured precisely to withstand daily wear: that cross-hatched grid impressed into it is not decorative, it’s what protects against the reaction of time. Natural caoutchouc does not react to UV rays or chemical agents — pool chlorine, sweat, don’t touch it. That said, how long it lasts depends on you: if you fold it badly or tear it, the saffiano leather will show the marks. But it’s a strap designed for heavy use, not delicate use.
I have two watches and I don’t want to carry a tool around every time — does this quick-release really work without disassembly?
The quick-release is stainless steel and allows rapid lug changes without tools. You don’t have to open anything, you don’t have to keep a kit in your pocket. That’s the reason it exists: you swap the strap in thirty seconds, and you’re done.
I like a strap that ages well and changes colour over the years — what does this black do, does it turn grey?
No. The black of the natural caoutchouc does not fade under UV rays. The black of the saffiano keeps its matte lustre over time — it doesn’t turn pale. It will change in appearance in the sense that it will show signs of use, the leather will acquire more patina, but the colour remains stable. If you’re looking for that dirty-grey that comes with time, this is not the strap for you.
How thick is it? Is it unpleasantly rigid or does it bend immediately?
Base thickness 6mm, then it tapers to 3mm toward the end. It’s not thin, nor is it a wrist lace. That mass serves a purpose: natural caoutchouc has body, saffiano is not paper. It doesn’t bend like a scarf, but it’s not a wooden board either. It’s proportioned to its task: to absorb impacts, not to fold like nothing.
