The Rally in natural calfskin by Milano Straps recaptures that geometry without romanticizing it: every hole is precisely placed, every stitch is hand-reinforced.
The natural-toned Italian calfskin has a unique quality that few materials can boast: it doesn't stay the same. In the first few months, it develops a patina that depends on how it's worn, the light it's exposed to, and the wrist it adorns. It's not wear and tear — it's character forming. Each strap, in the end, is unique.
The profile is deliberately essential: 2.5mm thick, reinforced stitching, no superfluous elements. It suits vintage chronographs as well as pilot watches, without aesthetic compromises. The natural, warm, and untreated tone works well with light dials, brushed cases, and applied indices. But it's neutral enough not to impose a mandatory pairing.
Each piece leaves the Milanese workshop with slight variations in shade compared to the previous one. It's not an imprecision — it's the signature of hand-worked leather, a sign that it's not a mass-produced item.

Do the perforations of the rally design weaken the strap structure over time?
No. The perforations are calculated in position and diameter so as not to compromise the leather’s resistance. Hand-reinforced stitching along the edges compensates for the reduction in material and keeps the strap intact even with prolonged daily use. It is the same principle applied to competition straps from the 1960s, where lightness and resistance had to coexist.
How long does it take for natural leather to develop a visible patina?
It depends on use and climate, but the first shade variations are generally noticeable between the first and third month of daily use. The zones in contact with the wrist tend to darken slightly and soften, while the edges remain lighter longer. The result is a natural gradation that no artificial treatment can replicate.
Is this strap compatible with watches that have curved lugs, like certain vintage Heuer models?
The rally strap has a straight-cut end, optimal for watches with flat or slightly angled lugs. For cases with very curved lugs — such as some vintage Heuer or Breitling chronographs — there might be slight tension at the attachment. In case of doubt, contact us indicating the specific model: we evaluate case by case.
The lug width and buckle width are always different — why this difference?
It is a characteristic feature of the traditional rally strap: the greater width at the lug follows the case geometry, while the reduced width at the buckle — usually 16mm or 20mm — ensures a cleaner closure and a less bulky profile on the wrist. This taper, combined with the perforated design, also reduces the perceived weight during prolonged wear.
