Set of two spring bars for Rolex Submariner 16618 in yellow gold with blind lugs, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between lugs. Pin 1.5mm. The 16618 is the Submariner Date in yellow gold produced from 1988 to 2009, in the blind-lug version for production runs after the early Nineties.
The 16618 has two known variants in terms of strap fitting: first series with drilled lugs still from the 5513/1680 period, and second series with blind lugs introduced in the mid-Nineties. This is the blind-lug variant: 1.5mm pin, closed recess, fitting only from the case side with a fork tool.

Frequently asked questions
How can i tell if my submariner 16618 has blind lugs?
Look at the lugs from the outer side: if they are closed, with no visible hole, you have the second series, introduced in the mid-1990s. If you can see a hole, you still have the drilled lugs of the first series. This set is made for blind lugs.
What size are these spring bars?
20mm between the lugs, 1.5mm pin. These are the same ones i fit on customers' 16618 with blind lugs, from the same supplier.
How are they fitted, given that the lugs are closed?
Only from the case side, using a fork tool. The lug hole is closed, so it cannot be pushed from the lug as on a model with drilled lugs. Care is needed, otherwise there is a risk of scratching the case.
Are these the original rolex spring bars?
No, they are made of hardened swiss standard steel, from the same supplier i use for all the 16618 with blind lugs that pass through the workshop. They do their job without giving way over time.
Do these also work for other gold submariners?
Only for the 16618 with blind lugs, the one produced after the early 1990s. If yours still has drilled lugs, the pin does not hold in the same way: let me know the model and i will tell you the right size.
