4.8 Customers rate us 4.8/5 based on 256 reviews.

Set of two spring bars for Rolex Submariner reference 16618 in yellow gold drilled lug version, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between lugs. Pin 1.8mm. Drilled lugs. The 16618 is the gold Submariner Date produced from 1988 to 2009 — drilled lug version for 1988-2003 production, before the transition to non-drilled lugs.

The drilled 16618 is the transition phase of the gold Submariner Date. Lugs still with through-hole like the vintage 1680, but modern 3135 calibre and revised case. Pin 1.8mm on the drilled recess — intermediate specification between the 2.0mm vintage and the 1.5mm modern non-drilled. When a client brings a drilled 16618 for a leather strap, these are the spring bars.

Same spring bars on every client’s drilled 16618.

Domande Frequenti

Am I sure that the 1.8mm pin is correct for my drilled 16618 from 1995?

Yes, 1.8mm is the standard for drilled 16618 lugs produced between 1988 and 2003. It is the only size that works on this generation: thicker than the 1.5mm modern solid lugs, thinner than the 2.0mm vintage 1680. If the pin enters with controlled friction and holds without play, it is the correct one.

Can I use these spring bars on other Submariners or other Rolex cases?

No, I do not recommend forcing it. The 1.8mm is specific to the drilled 16618. Solid lug Submariners (14060, 16610, 16800) use 1.5mm, vintage 1680 uses 2.0mm. Different sizes mean excessive play or stuck pin — it is better to measure the cavity diameter on your case first.

What is the advantage of Swiss Standard tempered steel compared to normal steel?

Swiss Standard is harder and maintains the elastic memory of the pin after hundreds of mounting/dismounting cycles. Tempered steel does not bend and resists wear on the drilled cavity better, which by nature is more fragile than solid lugs. Simple: it lasts longer and loses less elasticity.

The set contains two bars — is that enough for a complete strap?

Yes, two bars are exactly what you need. Each strap requires one bar per side (at 12 and 6 o’clock on the case), so one set is a complete replacement. If you lose one or bend it during installation, you will need to reorder.
