Set of two spring bars for Rolex Sea-Dweller reference 16600 drilled lug version, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin 1.8mm. Drilled lugs. The 16600 is the Sea-Dweller produced from 1989 to 2008 — drilled lug version for 1989-2003 productions, technical sister of the first-phase 16610 Submariner.
The drilled 16600 maintains the technical tradition of the Sea-Dweller even as it modernises. Drilled lug hole like the 16660 Triple Six that precedes it, 1.8mm pin. The case is thicker than the Submariner, tall sapphire crystal, helium escape valve: but the strap-fitting geometry remains vintage-friendly until 2003. When a client brings in a drilled 16600 for service, these are the spring bars.

Are these spring bars specifically designed for the 16600 or do they work on other Sea-Dweller models?
They are cut for the 16600 drilled lug version (1989-2003), but the 20mm diameter and 1.8mm pin make them compatible with other vintage Rolex models using the same geometry — such as some early phase Submariner. The only variable is the lug cavity: these are for drilled lugs, so if your lugs aren’t drilled they won’t fit.
What is the difference between these drilled spring bars and the solid ones I see online?
The drilled lugs on the 16600 have a through cavity — the pin passes completely. Solid spring bars have a blind cavity on one side. If you install solid ones on a drilled lug, the strap won’t close properly and will sit crooked. You must use drilled ones, otherwise you compromise the geometry.
Is the 1.8mm pin truly compatible with my vintage Sea-Dweller straps, or do I risk the hole being too loose?
1.8mm is the Rolex standard for the drilled 16600 — if your Sea-Dweller is original or quality, the strap holes are calibrated to this diameter. If the hole is worn (wear and tear) the pin may slide slightly, but that’s normal. If it’s very loose, the strap is damaged, not the spring bars’ fault.
How do I install these spring bars without damaging the crystal or case?
Use a spring bar tool with rounded tips — press the pin from the opposite side of the cavity, free the old bar, slide it away. Insert the new one from the same direction, lower the strap and press until the pin clicks into the cavity. If you use sharp screwdrivers or force it, you risk scratching the case: it’s not worth it, take 5 minutes and do it carefully.
