4.8 Customers rate us 4.8/5 based on 256 reviews.

Set of two spring bars for Rolex Sea-Dweller reference 16600 blind lugs version, in tempered Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin 1.5mm. Blind lugs. The 16600 is the Sea-Dweller produced from 1989 to 2008 — blind lugs version for the 2003-2008 productions, before the transitional 16660-MR and then the 116600.

The blind 16600 marks the Sea-Dweller’s transition towards modernism. Closed lug holes, 1.5mm pin, removal only from the side. The 1220m depth standard with helium escape valve remains, but the strap geometry becomes that of the modern Submariner 16610 without holes. A production standardisation choice by Rolex typical of the period.

The same spring bars on every blind lugs 16600. The same supplier.

Domande Frequenti

Are these spring bars really compatible only with 16600 blind lugs, or can I use them on other Rolex models?

Technically, 20mm with 1.5mm pin is the post-2003 Rolex standard, so it fits 16610, Daytona, GMT-Master II from the same era. However, the lug cavity geometry is specific: the 16600 blind lug has a different stop than earlier versions. If your watch has blind lugs without drainage holes, these will work fine; if it has drainage holes, the pin may not center perfectly.

Is the 1.5mm pin fragile? How long does it last before I need to change them again?

The 1.5mm tempered steel Swiss Standard pin is the Rolex standard and not fragile if installed correctly. The issue is not pin breakage but wear from friction with the strap. Lifespan depends on use: on a soft strap it lasts years, on a rigid or poorly tensioned strap 6-12 months. Signs of replacement needed: when the strap rocks laterally in the lug.

How do I install these spring bars without damaging the case? The 16600 has blind lugs, so I can’t see inside.

Blind lugs mean you remove from the side: position the small screwdriver in the lug’s side groove, press and pull the pin toward you. There’s no top view, so you need the right touch and possibly a precision tool. If you’ve never done this, I recommend a watchmaker: risk of case scratching if the tool slips.

Why is the pin 1.5mm and not 1.8mm like older Submariners? What’s the difference?

In 2003 Rolex reduced the pin from 1.8mm to 1.5mm to standardize with new blind lugs and reduce mechanical play. The 1.5mm in a blind cavity is more stable because tolerance is tighter. Using a 1.8mm pin on a 16600 blind lug causes noticeable vertical strap movement and earlier pin wear.
