Domande Frequenti

Do these spring bars work on all OysterDate Precision models or only specific references?

They work on references 6694, 6694D, and 6466 — OysterDate Precision cases measuring 34mm produced from the 1960s through the 1980s. If your watch has a manual caliber 1225 or 1230 movement and drilled lugs measuring 19mm, you’re compatible. If you have a smaller case or solid lugs, it is not compatible.

Why is the pin 1.8mm instead of 1.5mm like many vintage spring bars?

Rolex used 1.8mm pins in Oyster models from the 1960s–1980s for strength reasons — the tolerance was wider compared to fine pins. If you install a 1.5mm on an older OysterDate Precision, there is excessive play and the spring bar will rattle inside the lug. The 1.8mm is the correct standard for this caliber.

Do drilled lugs change anything in the installation process compared to solid lugs?

No, the procedure is identical: insert the spring bar from one side, thread it through the holes in both lugs, and secure it from the other side. Drilled lugs do not make the operation more difficult — they were simply Rolex’s style of that era and provided a lighter feel on the wrist compared to later models.

If I change the bracelet with this spring bar, do I risk damaging the lugs or case?

If the spring bar is the correct size (19mm) and the pin fits without forcing, the risk is minimal. Problems arise if you use excessive force or if the spring bar is slightly undersized and rotates inside the lug — in that case you will scratch the case. Install with a dedicated tool and without pressing beyond the stop point.
