Set of two spring bars compatible with multiple gold Daytona references, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin diameter: 1.8mm. Compatible with Daytona 16528 yellow gold (1988-2000), Daytona 116505 Everose rose gold (from 2008), Daytona 116515 rose gold with ceramic bezel (from 2011).
Three Daytona references, same pin diameter. Rolex uses 1.8mm across the entire gold Daytona line, both for technical consistency and to protect the soft-alloy cases. The intermediate diameter does the job: it holds the strap firmly, doesn’t damage the lug hole, and works on both vintage drilled lugs and modern closed lugs.
A sensible spare set for those who own more than one gold Daytona. The same component I fit in the atelier on all three references.

Do these spring bars work on all my gold Daytonas or do I need to check the model?
They fit 16528, 116505, and 116515 without issues—all use the 1.8mm pin. If you have a different gold Daytona, verify the pin is 1.8mm before ordering. Rolex has been consistent across the Daytona line, but don’t take chances.
Is the 1.8mm diameter really the right compromise between retention and safety?
Exactly. It’s thick enough not to bend and hold the strap firmly, but fine enough not to enlarge or damage gold lugs, which are softer than steel. Rolex chose it for this reason—it’s not a compromise, it’s the correct size.
Can I use them on drilled lugs (vintage 16528) and solid lugs (116505/116515) without risk?
Yes, the 1.8mm fits smoothly in both. On vintage drilled lugs there’s no friction, on modern solid ones it seats perfectly. The only difference is how they feel during strap installation, but nothing changes technically.
If the pin is too thick or too thin, what happens to the strap and watch?
Pin too thick: expands the gold lugs, damages them. Pin too thin: strap slips, risk of watch falling. With 1.8mm you get stability and case protection. Don’t attempt to fit incorrect sizes.
