Set of two spring bars for Rolex Daytona reference 6263 and 6265 in yellow gold, in tempered Swiss Standard steel. Size: 19mm between the lugs. Pin 2.0mm. Drilled lugs. The 6263 and 6265 are the vintage manual gold Daytonas produced from 1971 to 1987 — called Big Red for the red DAYTONA script on the dial.
The 6263 has a black plexi tachymeter bezel, the 6265 has an engraved steel bezel. Drilled lugs and 2.0mm pin — full vintage specification. 19mm lug: one of the narrowest of the Rolex period. Almost all vintage Daytonas in the atelier have Casati leather straps — the original Oyster bracelet is often gone.

Do these spring bars fit only the 6263 and 6265 or work on other vintage Daytonas too?
Only for 6263 and 6265. The 19mm size is specific to these models from ’71 to ’87 — newer Daytonas have 20mm lugs. If you own a different reference, check first before installing: a pin that doesn’t fit is the fastest way to damage the lug.
Is the 2.0mm pin standardized? Can I use spring bars from other brands?
2.0mm is Swiss Standard, so theoretically compatible with any bar of the same diameter. But be careful: length and manufacturing tolerance vary between makers. I’d use only bars specific to the watch to avoid dangerous play or pins binding inside the drilled lug.
How do I install them without damaging the drilled gold lug? Is it more delicate than steel?
Gold is softer, so scratch risk is real. Use a tool with a Teflon or plastic tip, not metal. Position the pin parallel to the lug and push with steady pressure — not in jerks. With patience, 30 seconds per side, you won’t have problems.
Are drilled lugs a weakness? Do I risk breakage if I change the strap often?
No, not if made properly like vintage Rolex ones. The hole doesn’t reduce strength because it’s tiny and away from the load point. The real risk is gold tearing if the pin binds — that’s destructive. This is why the spring bar’s manufacturing tolerance matters more than lug geometry.
