Spring bars Rolex Day-Date 218238 gold — 20mm
€20,95
Set of two spring bars for Rolex Day-Date 218238 in yellow gold, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin 1.5mm. The 218238 is the Day-Date II 41mm produced from 2008 to 2015, before the return to the 40 format with the 228238.
The Day-Date II 218238 is the largest President ever produced by Rolex before the modern 40. 41mm case with lugs still at 20mm — a proportionally narrower format. The 1.5mm pin holds well on the blind hole, but the 218238 with the President bracelet remains a piece that is rarely worked on with a leather strap. When it happens, these are the spring bars.
The same piece I fit on the Day-Date II of clients who want to try leather.

Domande Frequenti
Do these spring bars work only on the 218238 or can I use them on other Day-Date models?
They work on any watch with 20mm lugs and blind end links (non-drilled). The 218238 is the reference model, but the 1.5mm pin and 20mm size are standard on many Rolex President and other models. If your watch has identical lugs, they will fit.
Why is the pin 1.5mm and not 1.8mm like standard Rolex sports models?
The 218238 is a dress watch with thinner lugs. The 1.5mm is proportioned to the shallow blind cavity of the case. If you use larger pins, they won’t seat properly and forcing them will damage the lugs.
Are they really Swiss Standard steel? How can I be confident about the hardness?
Yes, they are tempered according to Swiss spring steel standard — Rockwell C hardness 45-50. They are two pieces hand-finished, not pressed. If you pull too hard with wrong tools they will bend like any bar, but the resistance is what you should expect.
Do I need special tools to install them or is a standard spring bar tool enough?
A standard spring bar tool is sufficient, but a light hand is required: the blind cavity on the 218238 is tight and the 1.5mm pin is small. If your tool has a tip that is too wide, it won’t fit properly. Go slowly and do not force.
