Set of two spring bars for Rolex Day-Date reference 18238 in yellow gold, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin 1.8mm. The 18238 is the yellow gold Day-Date 36 produced from 1988 to 2000 — the transition between the vintage 1803 and the subsequent 118238, marking the leap from Plexi to sapphire crystal.
The 18238 is the President of the transition. It retains the 36mm case and the manual 3155 movement (later 3155A), but introduces sapphire crystal and a case with a more refined surface. Closed lugs from the first series (unlike the drilled 1803), 1.8mm pin. The pin remains wider than the modern 1.5mm standard: Rolex maintains the classic President specification up to the 118238.

Frequently asked questions
Are these spring bars suitable for my Day-Date 18238?
Yes. They are made for the 18238: 20mm lug width, 1.8mm pin diameter. Same size on every 18238 that comes across the bench.
Why is the pin 1.8mm and not 1.5mm as on other watches?
Rolex kept that specification for the President line up to the 118238. The 18238 falls within that period, so the pin remains wider than the modern standard.
What material are they made of?
Hardened Swiss Standard steel. Two spring bars per set.
Do they also fit a 1803 or a 118238?
These are calibrated for the 18238, with recessed lugs and a 1.8mm pin. If you have a different reference, let me know which one and I will check the correct size.
Do you need special tools to fit them?
Spring bars are fitted with a pointed tool, the one you normally use to change a strap. At the bench, I use a thin press tool.
