Spring bars Datejust 36 gold — 20mm drilled lugs
€20,95
Set of two spring bars for Rolex Datejust 36 in yellow gold with drilled lugs, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin 1.8mm. Drilled lugs. Compatible with vintage gold Datejust 36 produced from the Sixties to the Eighties — references such as 1601 gold, 16018, 16238 first series, 1607 with gold Jubilee bracelet.
The drilled-lug gold Datejust 36 is the President Datejust of the Seventies and Eighties. 36mm case in 18kt gold, fluted or polished bezel, drilled lugs for direct strap changes. 1.8mm hardened steel pin even on the gold case: 18kt gold does not withstand cyclical loads. A leather strap on the gold Datejust 36 is one of the most classic looks of the line.
The same spring bars on every drilled-lug gold Datejust 36 of my clients.

Domande Frequenti
Are these spring bars compatible with all yellow gold Datejust 36 models from the 1970s-1980s?
Yes, but only for models with drilled lugs — specifically President Datejust and yellow gold Datejust 36 references 1601, 16018, early 16238, and 1607 with Jubilee. If your case has solid lugs (non-drilled), they are not compatible. Always verify visually before ordering.
The pin is 1.8mm like the case, correct? Is there a risk of losing the bracelet?
Correct, 1.8mm tempered steel. The thickness is identical to what Rolex uses, so it fits perfectly. Loss risk is zero if the bracelet is correctly drilled for 1.8mm — verify your bracelet hole beforehand; this is not our responsibility.
Why tempered steel and not gold, if the case is 18kt gold?
18kt gold is too soft to withstand the cyclic stress of bracelet changes — it would deform after a few uses. Rolex uses tempered steel in gold cases for this reason. It is the correct technical choice, even if aesthetically less refined.
How do I install them without risking damage to the drilled lugs?
Use a spring bar tool with a thin tip to press downward and remove the old bar. New bars enter from the side of the case opposite the bracelet — apply gentle leverage and do not force if you encounter resistance. If the lugs are vintage, they may be slightly tight: test before concluding it doesn’t fit.
