Cognac Mohawk Leather Strap

The Mohawk is a leather I know well. It comes from the Tuscan tanning tradition — a process that adds wax and oil to vegetable tanning, making the surface more robust, slightly uneven, with that lived-in character that smooth leather cannot provide. Cognac is its natural shade: warm, rich, with nuances that change depending on how the light hits it.

The stitching is tone-on-tone. It doesn't seek visibility — it follows the color of the leather without interrupting it. This choice requires more care during production, as the thread must exactly match the leather's shade. The result is a strap that speaks as one coherent piece.

The thickness is 2.5 mm. The edge is hand-finished. Tuscan Vintage leather develops a patina over time — contact areas darken, edges soften, and each strap progressively becomes more personal. This is not a material defect: it's what it's supposed to do.

I envision it well on vintage chronographs — a Heuer Autavia, an Omega Speedmaster, a Zenith El Primero. But it also works on yellow gold or bronze dress watches, where cognac creates a natural, effortless color pairing. On polished steel, it is more decisive, more contemporary.
