Lizard leather cannot be explained—it must be observed. Each scale is an autonomous element, a natural geometry that industrial production cannot imitate. The black contains it without suffocating it: the pattern remains legible, present, and vibrant on the wrist.
Double-layered construction, made in Italy. The 2.5mm thickness is not a compromise—it's a choice. It allows the strap to adapt to thin and refined cases without creating undesirable bulk under the buckle. The asymmetrical length of 115mm/75mm reflects the proportions of a classic dress watch, where every millimeter is measured.

If you were to see two perfectly identical straps, one of them would not be genuine leather. The chromatic variations between one hide and another are not irregularities: they are confirmation that each strap comes from a real animal, not from a machine.
I have a rather thin watch — won’t this strap have a thickness that crushes it under the buckle?
No. The 2.5mm thickness is not a compromise — it is a conscious choice. It allows the strap to adapt to thin and refined cases without creating unwanted bulk under the buckle. It was designed precisely for this.
Do the long-side/short-side proportions (115mm/75mm) look good on all watches, or are they designed for a specific style?
They are measured for the classic dress watch, where every millimetre is calculated. If you have a watch with that aesthetic — a refined case, sober proportions — you will find that the asymmetric proportions reflect exactly what is required. On other styles it depends on your wrist and your proportions.
Is there a wider or narrower version of this, or is the 20mm/16mm the only one?
The Black Lizard Strap comes in two versions: 20mm at the lugs × 16mm at the buckle, or 21mm at the lugs × 18mm at the buckle. Choose according to the width of your lugs (lug width). If your lugs are 18, as indicated, the 21mm × 18mm version is the one for you.
If the black in the photos appears slightly different from the one I receive, can I demand an exchange?
No, and it would be a mistake to expect that. Colour variations compared to the images are intrinsic to the nature of the leather and vary from hide to hide. You are buying a unique piece, not an industrial product. If two straps were identical pixel by pixel, it would mean that one of them is not genuine leather.
