The lug width is 19 millimetres. This dimension is measured between the metal lugs of the case. Do not confuse with the standard 20mm width: the Certina DS Action requires specifically 19mm straps for perfect fit and security.

Choice depends on use and aesthetic preference. For elegance: brown alligator or vegetable-tanned calf leather. For marine practicality: treated rubber or canvas NATO. The satin finish of the case harmonises perfectly with leathers that develop patina over time, especially alligator and shell cordovan.

Remove the old strap by unscrewing or extracting the spring bars connecting the strap to the case lugs. Insert the new strap by aligning the holes with the spring bars, then fasten securely. If inexperienced, consult a qualified watchmaker: the tolerance is tight at 19mm width, and excessive force can damage the lugs.

All straps with 19mm lug width are compatible. Certina imposes no restrictions: you may use leather (alligator, calf, shell cordovan), canvas NATO, technical rubber, or even cotton fabric, provided the construction profile respects the 19mm holes and fastening occurs via standard spring bars.

A quality calf leather strap worn daily has an average lifespan of 3-5 years. Alligator and shell cordovan, more compact materials, may last 7-10 years or longer. Longevity depends on humidity, wear, and maintenance (periodic cleaning and conditioning with natural oils). Rubber has indefinite lifespan, subject only to cosmetic wear.
