There is no single "best" strap in absolute terms, but rather choices that align with your intended use. For underwater environments, a synthetic NATO offers practicality and durability. For formal daily wear, leather in calf or alligator provides sophistication. For extreme marine performance, rubber remains the most reliable choice. Your decision should reflect your relationship with the watch.

Changing the strap is a straightforward procedure. Position the watch face-up and locate the spring bars that run through the lugs on both sides of the case. Use a spring bar remover tool to gently push the bars inward and slide them out of their slots. Remove the old strap and insert the new strap's spring bars into the same slots, ensuring they click securely into place on both sides.

Any strap designed for a 22mm lug width is compatible with the SRD-O. This includes full-grain leather straps, alligator leather, shell cordovan, NATO straps in nylon or recycled synthetics, rubber straps, and models featuring steel deployante buckles. Compatibility depends solely on lug width, regardless of the strap manufacturer.

A quality leather strap, subjected to moderate use, will last 3–5 years before showing significant wear. However, if regularly exposed to salt water or fresh water, the lifespan reduces to 1–2 years. For a Sea Rescue Diver intended for frequent diving, it is advisable to prioritise NATO or rubber straps, which are far more resistant to moisture and marine environments.
