The Swatch Sistem 51 SUTW403 features a lug width of 20mm, a standard size for medium-to-large sport cases. This dimension is measured between the strap attachment pins, excluding the lateral extensions of the case. A 20mm strap ensures perfect compatibility with this model.

For the SUTW403, we recommend straps in virgin crotone calf leather or genuine alligator, which create sophisticated aesthetic contrast with the transparent bioplastic case. NATO straps in nylon or cordura represent a practical and durable sporty alternative. For aquatic environments, vulcanised rubber is the optimal choice.

Obtain a spring bar tool (specific lever-tipped tool). Position the watch on a stable surface and insert the lever into the lateral recess of the lug, lifting the attachment pin until it releases completely. Remove the old strap, align the new strap's pins with the lugs, and press until you hear the locking click. The operation takes 2-3 minutes.

Compatibility is guaranteed at the lug width (20mm), but you must verify the strap thickness: the SUTW403 accommodates straps up to 5mm without strain. Thicker straps create excessive tension on the pins. Additionally, the quality of the strap lug workmanship (flat edges free of sharp borders) prevents damage to the plastic case.

A quality artisanal calf strap lasts 2-4 years with daily wear and regular maintenance (cleaning with a dry cloth, annual conditioning with natural wax). Genuine vegetable-tanned alligator lasts 5-7 years. Synthetic NATO straps exceed 10 years. Longevity depends on ambient humidity, frequency of wear, and initial leather quality.
