To change the strap, you require a dedicated tool called a spring bar removal tool. Position the watch face-up on your work surface. Insert the rounded tip of the tool into the small hole beneath the lug and push upward to release the internal spring, then extract the metal lug. Repeat on the opposite side. Install the new strap by aligning the holes with the lugs and reinserting the springs until you hear the locking click. Consult the Oris manual if you lack experience.

A natural leather strap subjected to frequent water and moisture exposure has a lifespan of 18–36 months. Vegetable-tanned leather is more resistant than chrome-tanned calf, but it too suffers from marine humidity. For a diver used regularly in water, we recommend alternating between a leather strap and an FKM rubber one to extend the useful life of both. In a dry environment with regular maintenance (drying after bathing), a quality alligator can last 4–5 years. Replace the strap once you notice signs of fibre degradation.
