The lug width of the Oris Divers 65 is 20 millimetres. This measurement defines the distance between the two case lugs and is essential for selecting compatible straps. To verify the measurement, use a digital calliper and measure the distance between the internal holes of the lugs: it must correspond exactly to 20mm.

The ideal strap depends on the intended use. For diving, we recommend rubber or NATO canvas for rapid drying and water adhesion. For daily formal wear, an alligator strap with vegetable tanning in dark tones (dark brown, black) offers sophistication and aesthetic compatibility with the satin black dial. Vegetable-tanned calf leather represents an excellent compromise between practicality and natural ageing.

The strap is secured via two removable spring bars. Use a dedicated tool (spring bar extractor or a thin flathead screwdriver) to gently compress the internal spring of each bar, allowing it to be withdrawn from the case. Once removed, insert the bars into the new strap, aligning the holes and push until the bar clicks into position. Verify that the strap is firmly secured before wearing the watch.

The longevity of a leather strap depends on the material, tanning method and usage. An alligator strap with vegetable tanning, if properly maintained and rarely exposed to water, lasts 3–5 years. Calf leather has similar durability but ages faster, developing characteristic patina. If used frequently in saline or humid environments, longevity reduces to 1.5–2 years. Rubber and NATO are more resilient to external agents and offer 5–7 years of intensive use.
