It is the critical dimension for purchasing a compatible strap. To verify it, use a digital calliper to measure the external distance between the two lugs: Oris' manufacturing tolerance allows a maximum variation of ±0.5mm.

The best strap depends on your intended use. For absolute elegance, we recommend black or dark brown alligator in vegetable tanning: its regular texture creates an extraordinary contrast with the brushed stainless steel case. For daily versatility, calfskin in vegetable tanning grey or blue. For pure sportiness, a NATO in cordura or vulcanised rubber. Shell cordovan represents the most exclusive choice, developing a rich patina over time. Your colour selection should harmonise with the dial: a black dial suits dark brown alligator, whilst a blue dial prefers dark blue calfskin.

To change the strap, you will need a spring bar tool (available from any watch shop). Position the tool's tip into the small hole located at the base of the lug, corresponding to the metal pin (spring bar). Press gently downwards: the pin will retract, freeing the old strap. Repeat for both lugs. To insert the new strap, insert one lug at a time onto the pin, compressing with the spring bar tool until it clicks into position. Verify that the strap is securely anchored before wearing your watch.

No, compatibility requires precision. Although the Artix GT has a standard 22mm lug width, some aftermarket straps may vary by ±0.3mm in width. Before purchasing, check the specifications from the strap manufacturer. Additionally, material thickness (for alligator and leather, typically 3.5-4.5mm) affects overall fit. Leather strap durability depends on the material and usage. Cordura NATO fabric exceeds 10 years. Moisture, perspiration and sun exposure shorten service life. To extend durability, remove the watch during activities exposing it to excessive moisture (water sports), and replace the strap before complete wear occurs, avoiding catastrophic tears.
