The Tetra 444, given its minimalist and German construction philosophy, pairs ideally with vegetable-tanned leather straps (calf, shell cordovan) or natural canvas NATO straps. These materials respect the design's inherent austerity. Alternatively, a structured elastomer in grey or black maintains visual coherence for daily wear. Avoid straps with decorative elements or polished finishes, which would contradict its spare character.

The Tetra 444 uses standard spring bars. To change the strap: use a dedicated spring bar tool to gently compress the spring from inside the lug, releasing the previous strap from its seat on the case. Once both lugs are free, insert the new strap by applying gentle pressure until the spring locks back into place. A reversible operation that causes no structural alteration.

Yes, all straps certified with an 18 mm lug width are compatible with the Tetra 444, regardless of material (leather, NATO, rubber, textile). Compatibility is guaranteed by the spring bar width. However, we recommend choosing thicknesses proportioned to the case: overly thick straps would visually contrast with the compact proportions of the case (29.50 mm). A thickness of 3–4 mm is ideal.

Leather strap longevity depends on usage intensity, climate, and tanning quality. For a daily-worn Tetra 444 under normal conditions, a vegetable-tanned leather strap (full-grain hide) maintains structural integrity for 3–5 years. It will develop visible patina over time. Signs of accelerated wear (cracks, fraying) require replacement. NATO or rubber straps have longer lifecycles (5–8 years) due to reduced sensitivity to climate variation.
