Spring bars Rolex vintage 20mm × 2mm — drilled lugs
€12,95
Set of two spring bars for vintage Rolex with drilled lugs, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between lugs. Pin diameter: 2.0mm. Compatible with most Rolex sport tools from the Sixties to Eighties with drilled lug holes: Submariner 5513, 1680, 16800, GMT 1675, 16750, Daytona 6263, Sea-Dweller 1665.
The 2.0mm is the original Rolex specification for sport cases with drilled lugs. The larger pin works better against an open hole: it pushes against more wall, distributes the load, doesn’t wobble. The modern 1.5mm doesn’t hold here — I’ve seen it fail on a GMT 16750 with a leather strap in under two months.
Same part I fit on every vintage Rolex I work on in the atelier.

Domande Frequenti
Is the 2.0mm diameter really necessary on a GMT 1675 with drilled lugs, or could I use a standard 1.5mm?
No, I advise against 1.5mm on these models. I have seen it fail on a 16750 with a leather strap after a few months. The 2.0mm is the original Rolex specification for drilled lugs because the larger pin pushes against more of the lug hole wall, distributes the load better, and does not rattle inside. On an open shoulder, diameter matters.
Are they compatible with my 1968 Submariner 5513 with drilled lugs?
Yes, the 5513 is on the list. However, verify that your lugs are drilled (through-hole, not closed shoulder). If the hole is open from side to side, these 20mm × 2.0mm fit perfectly. If you are uncertain about the width between lugs, measure with calipers.
How do I correctly install a spring bar with drilled lugs? Are special tools required?
You need a Rolex spring bar tool with the tip designed for drilled lugs — the one with the through-hole to insert the pin. Position the tip in the hole, gently push toward the bezel to compress the spring, slide the strap into place, then release. Using tweezers or improvised tools risks bending the pin.
If my Rolex sport tool has the small hole, does this 2.0mm spring bar still fit?
No, it does not fit. If your tool has a reduced hole (for 1.5mm pins), the 2.0mm will not pass through. Before ordering, verify the hole diameter of your tool. If you did not specify it when you purchased from Rolex, it is likely the standard 2.0mm on sport models from the Sixties through the Eighties.
