The OP 28 is the smallest case in the current Oyster range, and what applies to every 14mm holds here: less margin, zero tolerance for play. Closed lug hole, compression pin, exactly 1.5mm. The short spring bar also has less spring to rely on — one more reason to fit it new and in its proper size.
Those who switch the OP 28 from the Oyster bracelet to a strap almost always do so to lighten it. Rightly so. But clean work begins with the spring bar.

Why can't I reuse the spring bars from the Oyster bracelet?
Because they have already been under stress and the spring is no longer as it was. On a 1.5mm pin this makes a difference. I always fit new ones, in the exact size.
What type of fitting do they have?
Compression pins, designed for a closed hole. On the OP 28, which is the smallest case in the Oyster range, this type of fitting is the right one.
I'm fitting a different strap from the bracelet, does anything change for the spring bars?
No, the size remains 14mm and the pin 1.5mm: it's the case that dictates the spring bar, not the strap fitted onto it. Start from this and the rest will fit cleanly.
