Set of two spring bars for Rolex Milgauss reference 1019, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin 1.8mm. Drilled lugs. The 1019 is the most widespread Milgauss, produced from 1963 to 1988 — the only antimagnetic Rolex watch for twenty-five years before the modern 116400.
On the 1019 the pin is 1.8mm, not 2.0mm as on the sport tool watches of the era. It is an under-specification: Milgauss had a slightly narrower hole — designed for technical laboratory or workshop watches, not for diving. The 1.8mm holds better than the modern 1.5mm on drilled lugs. Replacement with 1.5mm: I see it regularly, and the pin wobbles.

What size should I get for my 1019?
There is only one size for this piece: 20mm lug width, 1.8mm pin. This is the correct size for the Milgauss reference 1019.
Do they also work on other vintage Rolex models with 20mm lugs?
The pin here is 1.8mm, designed for the 1019's lug hole. Sport tool watches from that era use 2.0mm: I wouldn't recommend these for those.
Why shouldn't I use the 1.5mm spring bars that are commonly found?
1.5mm is the modern standard, but on the 1019's drilled lugs it tends to wobble. I see this often at the counter. The 1.8mm holds better in that lug hole.
The lugs are drilled, what's the advantage?
With drilled lugs, I can fit and remove the spring bar without forcing the case. There is less risk of scratching the metal around the lugs.
What kind of steel is it and does it hold up over time?
Hardened Swiss Standard steel. It is the same piece I fit on my clients' 1019s, and it holds the pin tension well over time.
