Spring bars Rolex Milgauss 1019 — 20mm vintage
€12,95
Set of two spring bars for Rolex Milgauss reference 1019, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between the lugs. Pin 1.8mm. Drilled lugs. The 1019 is the most widespread Milgauss, produced from 1963 to 1988 — the only antimagnetic Rolex watch for twenty-five years before the modern 116400.
On the 1019 the pin is 1.8mm, not 2.0mm as on the sport tool watches of the era. It is an under-specification: Milgauss had a slightly narrower hole — designed for technical laboratory or workshop watches, not for diving. The 1.8mm holds better than the modern 1.5mm on drilled lugs. Replacement with 1.5mm: I see it regularly, and the pin wobbles.
The same piece I fit on my clients’ Milgauss 1019.

Domande Frequenti
Can I use these 1.8mm spring bars on other Rolex sports models or only on the Milgauss 1019?
Only on the 1019. Rolex used 1.8mm exclusively on this reference because the lug cavity was milled narrower — it was a technical laboratory watch, not a dive instrument like the Submariner. On other Rolex models you will find 1.5mm or 2.0mm, and the 1.8mm pin does not seat properly.
If I replace with modern 1.5mm spring bars, what is the risk?
The bracelet becomes loose. The 1.8mm has a tighter tolerance on the 1019’s cavity, the 1.5mm does not — the pin moves laterally and the bracelet shifts under the crown. The 1019 was engineered for 1.8mm, not modern compatibility.
Are these truly tempered Swiss Standard steel or equivalent Chinese counterfeits like others found online?
These are laboratory-verified tempered Swiss Standard steel, diameter checked to 1.8mm ±0.05mm. Not all 1.8mm pins found online meet tolerance specifications — some are undersized and do not hold. Here the heat treatment is certified.
How do I install these spring bars? Do I need a special tool?
Use a standard spring bar remover or plastic ballpoint pen, push the pin upward from below to extract the old one, then insert the new one by sliding the pin through the perforated lugs. The 1.8mm holds tight enough not to fall during installation — unlike the 1.5mm which is loose.
