Set of two spring bars for Rolex GMT-Master reference 16753 two-tone, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between lugs. Pin 2.0mm. Drilled lugs. The 16753 is the vintage steel-gold GMT-Master produced from 1981 to 1988 — the two-tone version of the 16750 quickset, nicknamed Root Beer for its brown dial.
The 16753 is the first two-tone GMT in history with quickset date. Root Beer or nipple brown dial, two-tone brown-black bakelite bezel, steel-gold Jubilee bracelet. Drilled lugs and 2.0mm pin like the entire vintage family. The hardened steel pin is the correct specification even with a two-tone case: the 18kt gold on the lug cannot bear the load of a strap under repeated cycles.

Are these spring bars compatible only with the 16753 or do they work on other vintage GMT models?
Technically, the 20mm with 2.0mm pin and drilled lugs is the standard across the entire Rolex vintage GMT family (16750, 16753, 16760). The difference is that the two-tone 16753 has identical construction specs to the 16750, so yes, they work on that too. Always verify that your watch has drilled lugs and a 2.0mm pin before ordering.
Is the pin really hardened steel? Won’t it risk scratching my strap when I insert it?
Yes, it’s hardened — harder than standard, for durability. The risk of scratches depends on you, not the material: if you push straight without odd angles you won’t scratch anything. The 2.0mm pin is thin, so it requires precision in insertion. Tip: watch the video on our site before attempting — technique is everything.
How many spring bars do I need for the 16753? One per side or two for each?
Just one spring bar per side — one at 12 o’clock and one at 6 o’clock. The set contains two pieces because you decide whether to keep a spare or use one now and one later. A 16753 never had dual pins; there would be too many and the strap wouldn’t fit into the lugs.
If my spring bar breaks, can I use a standard 20mm spring bar with a 2.0mm pin from another brand?
Technically yes if it meets exact specs: 20mm, 2.0mm pin, drilled lugs. But honestly, a vintage Rolex deserves a pin that matches that era — we use hardened Swiss Standard steel like the original. If you break ours, I’ll explain why rather than sell you some generic alternative.
