Spring bars Rolex Exp II 16570 — 20mm blind lugs
€12,95
Set of two spring bars for Rolex Explorer II reference 16570 solid lug version, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 20mm between lugs. Pin 1.5mm. Solid lugs. The 16570 is the Explorer II produced from 1989 to 2011 — solid lug version for the 2003-2011 production, the final phase before the modern 216570.
The solid-lug 16570 is one of the most widespread and daily-worn Explorer II references. Mature 40mm case, more stable calibre 3185, solid lugs and 1.5mm pin — modern geometry ready for the legacy of the 216570. When a client brings in a solid-lug 16570 for a leather strap, these are the spring bars. Same specification as the solid-lug Sub 16610 from the same period.
The same spring bars on every solid-lug 16570 belonging to my clients.

Domande Frequenti
Are these spring bars compatible with all 16570 models or only the closed lug version?
Only for the closed lug version from 2003-2011. Earlier 16570 models (until 2003) have open lugs and different pin specifications. Check the lug: if it’s a straight groove with no through-hole, it’s closed lug and these will fit. If you see the hole where the Rolex pin protrudes, you need to look elsewhere.
Is the pin really 1.5mm? Can I use these on other watches?
Yes, 1.5mm is the standard Rolex uses on the closed lug 16570 and modern 216570. They are not universal: if your watch has different lugs or 1.6mm/1.7mm pins, they won’t seat at the correct pressure and you risk the strap shifting.
How do I install these spring bars without damaging the closed lug?
Use a fork-type spring bar tool with firm but controlled movement — push the pin diagonally inward, lever on the groove, and the spring bar seats into the slot. The closed lug has no clearance, so if you don’t find the right geometry on the first try, don’t force it. After the first change, the motion becomes instinctive.
How long do they last before losing tension or rusting?
Swiss Standard tempered steel resists well, but after 3-4 years of daily use with sweat and water exposure, tension begins to diminish — the strap starts to shift. They don’t rust easily, but the pin wears. Changing them every 4-5 years on frequently-worn watches is normal maintenance.
