Set of two spring bars for Rolex Day-Date, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. The Day-Date is the President: 36mm case, 40mm, now also 36 and 40 in every precious alloy. 20mm lugs on the 36, 21mm on the 40. 1.5mm or 1.8mm pin depending on the reference.
On the vintage 1803 the pin is 1.8mm and the lug is drilled. On the 18238 and 118238 the 1.8mm remains but the lugs are blind. On the modern 228238 in 40mm you move to 1.5mm and 21mm lug width. The steel stays: even on a gold case, the pin is steel by Rolex specification — gold deforms under load.

How do I know which spring bar my Day-Date needs?
It depends on the reference. On the vintage 1803 the pin is 1.8mm with a drilled lug. On the 18238 and 118238 it remains 1.8mm but the lug is undrilled. On the modern 40mm 228238 it switches to 1.5mm with a 21mm lug width. Please indicate the reference in the order notes, so I can prepare the correct set for you.
Why are the spring bars made of steel even though my Day-Date is gold?
This is the Rolex specification. Gold deforms under load, steel does not. This is why even on gold cases the pin remains hardened Swiss Standard steel.
Does the lug size change between the 36mm and 40mm cases?
Yes. On the 36mm case the lug width is 20mm, on the 40mm case it is 21mm. The spring bars in the set cover both sizes depending on the reference you indicate to me.
What is the difference between a drilled and an undrilled lug for fitting?
On the vintage 1803 the lug is drilled, with a 1.8mm pin. On the 18238 and 118238 the lug is undrilled, still with a 1.8mm pin. What changes is how the spring bar attaches to the case, not the strength of the steel.
Are these spring bars the same ones you use for customers' straps?
