Spring bars Datejust 31 steel — 17mm × 1.8mm drilled
€12,95
Set of two spring bars for Rolex Datejust 31 in steel with drilled lugs, in hardened Swiss Standard steel. Size: 17mm between lugs. Pin 1.8mm. Compatible with the steel Datejust 31 produced mainly in the Eighties and Nineties, with case still featuring the through-hole on the lug.
The 17mm × 1.8mm drilled on Datejust 31 in steel is the vintage specification of the ladies/mid-size line. A case smaller than the classic 36mm but with a lug proportioned accordingly. Drilled lugs allow direct strap change with a pin pusher — a practice that has become rare on modern Rolex models, still present on these vintage productions. When I change a strap on a drilled DJ 31 in steel, these are the spring bars.
The same spring bars on every drilled Datejust 31 in steel.

Domande Frequenti
Will this spring bar fit a modern Datejust 31 or only 1980s-1990s versions?
Only vintage versions with through-drilled lugs. Modern Datejust 31 models feature solid lugs and require different spring bars. If your case has a visible hole on the lug, you’re good; if it’s sealed, this won’t work.
Is the 1.8mm pin really compatible with all vintage Datejust 31 models or should I verify?
Pin diameter can vary slightly between Rolex batches from the 1980s-1990s. I recommend measuring your original pin with calipers before ordering, or contact me with the serial number: I can confirm if your example meets standard specifications.
Can I remove the old spring bars with a standard punch tool?
Yes, exactly. Through-drilled lugs allow you to push the pin from one side with a punch until it exits the other. This is the classic vintage method, much faster than modern models with internal levers.
How many times can I disassemble and reassemble these spring bars before they wear out?
Tempered steel withstands several cycles, but it depends on how much force you apply. If you’re gentle, they last for years. The real wear occurs on the case lugs: if the hole enlarges, the spring bars start to rattle regardless of their quality.
