Set of two Omega 22mm spring bars for lug fitting, in tempered Swiss Standard steel. Pin diameter: 1.8mm. Correct size for Seamaster Planet Ocean 43.5mm and 45.5mm, Constellation 38, Seamaster 300 vintage-style heritage, Speedmaster Racing 44.
On the Planet Ocean the lug is wide, the watch is heavy, and the wrist moves. The 1.8mm pin at 22mm of clearance is the combination that holds firm a diver’s strap with its 200 grams of leather and buckle. With a smaller diameter, the strap works loose — and a diver’s strap that works loose is a problem.
I fit them on the 22mm rubber and leather straps I make for the Planet Ocean and Constellation 38. Nothing aftermarket: the same diameter used by the manufacture.

Is the 1.8mm diameter really necessary for a Planet Ocean 43.5, or can I use a more standard 1.6mm?
No, I advise against 1.6mm. The Planet Ocean is heavy (200+ grams with dive strap), the lug is wide, and the wrist moves considerably. With a thinner pin, the strap begins to work laterally, and on a dive watch that’s a risk not worth taking. The 1.8mm holds it firmly.
Do these spring bars fit all Omega watches with 22mm lug width, or do I need to check something else?
Pin diameter is the critical factor: if your lugs have 1.8mm holes, they fit. If you’re unsure, measure the hole with a caliper or send me a photo. They work on vintage Seamaster 300, Constellation 38, Speedmaster Racing 44, but don’t assume — verify your specific watch.
Can I install these spring bars myself or do I risk damaging the watch?
If you have a decent spring bar tool, yes, it’s not difficult. If not, rely on a watchmaker: it costs little and the risk of scratching the lugs or losing the piece isn’t worth saving money. Two bars, five minutes of work—don’t hurt yourself to save a few euros.
What’s the difference between these and spring bars I find online for 10 euros?
Material and tempering. These are correctly tempered Swiss Standard steel: they resist tension fluctuations without deforming. Cheap alternatives often fail after months, especially if you wear the watch daily. On a Planet Ocean underwater, this isn’t the place to cut costs.
