The Saffiano texture is not an aesthetic choice—it's a technical decision. The cross-hatch pattern, patented in 1913 by Mario Prada, transforms Italian calf leather into a surface that resists scratches, maintains its shape, and ages without yielding. On this strap, the cognac is not the cognac you see everywhere: it's warmer than black, formal enough for a Datejust, sturdy enough for a Black Bay.
The ecru stitching is not a compromise—it's a choice. Against the cognac, it creates a contrast reminiscent of Italian tailoring: that detail you only notice up close, but which clearly distinguishes quality from approximation. Those who prefer invisible stitching will find other straps. Those who understand the value of calibrated contrast will find this one.
