The broad-snouted caiman (Caiman latirostris) lives in the wetlands of South America — freshwater swamps, mangroves, and still or slow-moving waters in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia. Its hide carries that nature with it: an irregular, lively texture, with a scaling that replicates neither the Nile alligator nor the Asian crocodile. It has a distinct character.
The matte red is a deliberate choice. It doesn't seek the brilliance of lacquer, it doesn't want to attract light — it absorbs it. On the wrist, against any dark or white dial, it creates a contrast that speaks for itself. The ecru thread stitching tightens each stitch by hand, one by one, following the profile of the scales without forcing them.
