The first of fifty passages is always the quietest. It begins before any tool touches leather — in a conversation, at a table in our atelier on Via XX Settembre, where we listen to how you wear your watch. On which wrist. In what light. Through which seasons.
Every detail you share becomes a decision. The weight of the buckle. The taper from lug to clasp. The exact radius of each stitch curve. Nothing is assumed. Nothing is standard. A cinturino built here carries your intentions in its geometry.
The appointment
We begin only by appointment. Not because we wish to make you wait, but because building something correctly requires an unhurried first hour. You come to Milano, to the atelier. You sit with us. You choose the leather from hides we keep in-house — touching grain, bending it against the light, feeling how it responds to warmth. Choosing a leather from a photograph is choosing with your eyes closed. We do not work that way.
The leather, over time
Full-grain cowhide does something no other material does with the same honesty: it records your life. The wrist's heat opens the pores slowly, pulling natural oils deeper into the fibre. After three months, the surface shifts — not degrades. Edges that left the atelier sharp begin to round into soft arcs. The colour deepens unevenly, darker where the clasp presses, lighter where air circulates. At six months, the strap no longer looks new. It looks yours.
We select hides from tanneries whose methods have not changed in decades. Vegetable-tanned, drum-dyed, finished without plastic coatings. The leather breathes. It ages. It tells the truth about how it has been worn, and that truth is always more interesting than perfection.
Fifty passages, four weeks
From cutting to final stitching, each cinturino passes through more than fifty individual steps — hand-skived, edge-painted, burnished, pressed, stitched with linen thread, then rested. We do not compress this timeline. Four weeks from the day you approve the design. Some things simply require the time they require.
What you receive is built to hold for at least eighteen months of daily wear before the leather asks for rest — often much longer, depending on how you live with it. When that time comes, you return. We build again.
