The Steinhart Pilot F0315 is fitted with 22-millimetre lugs. This dimension is model-specific and derives from the proportional relationship between the case diameter (47mm) and the anatomical structure of the medium-to-large wrist for which it is designed. All our 22mm straps are 100% compatible with the Steinhart lugs.

This depends on the intended use case. For tactical deployment, we recommend NATO in high-density nylon: excellent shock absorption, ease of deployment, minimal maintenance. For formal elegance, calf leather with vegetable tanning develops natural patina over time. Genuine alligator creates visual continuity with the off-white dial and uncompromising avionic atmosphere. Vulcanised rubber remains the most rational choice in humid environments or for water sports.

The process is straightforward. Locate the two spring bars (one on each side) that secure the strap to the lugs. Press the spring bar's end with a flat tool (small screwdriver or dedicated remover) so the bar slides laterally. The strap releases without forcing. To install the new strap, thread it under the spring bar and slide the button until it seats in its pocket. It takes less than two minutes.

A calf strap with vegetable tanning lasts 3–5 years with daily wear and regular maintenance (cleaning with a damp cloth, conditioning with cream every 6–8 months). Genuine alligator, being more tear-resistant, easily exceeds 5 years. Vulcanised rubber resists 4–6 years if not constantly exposed to direct UV rays. Nylon NATO surpasses 7+ years due to the inherent durability of synthetic fibres.
